Entrance at Saunders Meadow Road

Astrocamp, located in Idyllwild, California, is where Lauren worked during each school year since her graduation. It is in a picturesque setting 5300 feet above sea level in the San Jacinto range and within the San Bernadino National Forest. The elevation, the relatively dry air and low levels of light pollution offer exquisite views of the nighttime sky. So it is in an ideal spot for telescope viewing.

Astrocamp and its parent Guided Discoveries have their own web sites so we recommend you click on the links to them to learn more of what they are about and the wondrous things that they offer for youngsters. The images of deep space at Astrocamp's site are not to be missed so in case you did not see them, click here.

Finally, the Guided Discoveries Memorial Fund has been set up to remember Lauren Interess, Jody Wilson, and Lauren Dunn and others. The fund will provide financial support to lesser advantaged schools so that more of their students will be able to attend one of the Guided Discoveries science education camps.
